CBC Test at Quest or Labcorp: Prices and How to Order

You don't need a doctor's visit to get a complete blood count at Quest or Labcorp. Here is every way to order one, what it really costs, and how fast results come…

Same blood draw, different price: every way to order a CBC at Quest or Labcorp
THE SHORT VERSION

Same Blood Draw.
Different Price.

  • You can order a CBC yourself from Quest or Labcorp without a doctor’s visit, then give blood at one of their locations.
  • Labcorp OnDemand lists its CBC at $29. Quest Health lists its CBC at $29, then adds a physician service fee at checkout.
  • Several online sellers send you to the same Quest and Labcorp locations, sometimes for less. The table below compares every listing with live prices, cheapest first.
  • Look past the listed price. Some sellers add draw fees or charge members less, so compare the total at checkout.
  • A CBC on its own usually needs no fasting.

A complete blood count, or CBC, is one of the most common blood tests there is. If you want one without booking a doctor’s appointment first, you can buy it online and have your blood drawn at a Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp location, often within days.

The catch is that the same test is sold several ways: by the two labs themselves, and by online services that use their locations. Here is how those options compare, what you will actually pay, and what to check before you book.

02 / QUEST

How to Order a CBC
From Quest.

Quest sells its CBC to consumers through Quest Health for $29 before fees. It includes a differential and a platelet count, so you get the breakdown of white blood cell types along with red cells, hemoglobin, and hematocrit.

  1. Order the Complete Blood Count (CBC) on Quest Health. You don’t need your own doctor’s order. Quest adds a physician service fee at checkout, and it often runs discounts, so check the final total.
  2. Book a visit at a Quest patient service center. In some areas, Quest can also send someone to your home for an extra fee.
  3. Get your results by email link and in the MyQuest app, typically within one to two business days. Independent healthcare providers are available to review them with you.

Quest Health doesn’t sell tests in Arizona, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico. In Arizona, Sonora Quest Laboratories sells direct-to-consumer testing through its own My Lab ReQuest service. See Quest Health’s provider profile.

03 / LABCORP

How to Order a CBC
From Labcorp.

Labcorp sells its CBC through Labcorp OnDemand for $29. Like Quest’s version, it includes a differential, and it also reports immature granulocytes.

  1. Order the Complete Blood Count (CBC) Test on Labcorp OnDemand. A healthcare provider reviews and approves the request, and no visit is needed.
  2. Schedule a visit at a Labcorp location online. Labcorp says no special preparation is needed.
  3. See your results in your Labcorp Patient account, usually about one day after your sample reaches the lab.

Labcorp OnDemand accepts HSA and FSA cards for most of its tests. See Labcorp OnDemand’s provider profile.

04 / OTHER SELLERS

Same Labs.
Different Sellers.

Several online services sell CBCs that are drawn at Quest or Labcorp. They arrange the lab order and send you to a nearby patient service center. The visit is the same kind of blood draw. What changes is the price, the fees, and how long results take.

  • Personalabs sells a CBC with differential and platelet count for $44, with the lab order included. You visit Quest or Labcorp, results typically arrive in 24 to 48 hours, and the test is HSA and FSA eligible. A few states restrict direct-to-consumer lab testing, so Personalabs asks you to confirm yours.
  • Mito Health lists its CBC at $3.78. Its price depends on which lab serves your state: Quest, Labcorp, or BioReference in New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island. Members of its optional membership pay less. Mito says no fasting is required and results typically take one day.
  • Marek Health sells a CBC that adds a neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio for $9. The draw happens at Quest, results can take about two weeks, and it doesn’t serve New York, New Jersey, or Rhode Island. Marek notes a separate blood-draw fee on custom orders, so check the total at checkout.
  • Any Lab Test Now runs its own walk-in locations, and you don’t need a doctor’s order. You see the price after choosing a location.
THE QUESTION TO ASK

“What will I pay in total, including any physician, draw, or membership fees?”

05 / WHAT IT INCLUDES

With or Without
a Differential.

A CBC counts your red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, and it measures hemoglobin and hematocrit along with a few red cell measurements, such as the average size of your red cells. A CBC with differential adds a count of each of the five main types of white blood cells: neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils.

Most direct-to-consumer CBCs, including Quest’s and Labcorp’s, include the differential and a platelet count. If you’re comparing other listings, check the test name or its list of components before you buy.

This guide doesn’t explain what results mean. If you have questions about a result, ask the healthcare provider who reviews it or your own doctor.

06 / BEFORE YOU GO

A Few Things
to Check First.

MedlinePlus, the National Library of Medicine’s health information site, says no special preparation is usually necessary for a complete blood count. If your order bundles the CBC with other tests, such as a metabolic panel or cholesterol, those may require fasting, so follow the instructions that come with your order.

Bring a photo ID and your order confirmation to the lab. Direct-to-consumer orders are usually paid out of pocket, and many qualify for HSA or FSA funds.

07 / BUNDLES

When a Bundle
Costs Less.

Many people order a CBC together with a comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP) or a cholesterol test. Bundled panels can cost less than buying each test on its own, and many wellness panels already include a CBC.
