The Test Grade. The Reason Behind It.

Potentially useful for the right buyer, with meaningful evidence, coverage, transparency, access, cost, terms, or privacy tradeoffs to review.

A lower grade does not mean a panel is a bad personal fit. Your Fit Score can be higher when its purpose, price, sample, access, or support matches what you need.

Important limits and omissions

  • Exact order or draw fees and order-specific refund terms remain unconfirmed.

No broader panel in the Labbrary catalog lists every biomarker on this one for a lower listed price.

Counted among one-time lab-draw listings with a published price, matched by published biomarker names. That doesn’t mean the tests are equivalent. Updated October 2, 2026.

The full breakdown

Eight Dimensions.
One Named Result.

Open any row for the reasoning and evidence behind the named result.

The page names Quest Diagnostics Test 7573 and Labcorp Test 001321 as the mapped assays and publishes their reference intervals, and states processing at CLIA and CAP-accredited national labs. The exact performing facility and the assay method are not published.

The panel is described for people with blood loss, pregnancy-related needs, low-iron diets, impaired absorption, iron overload concerns, or prior abnormal results. The page states the panel cannot by itself diagnose anemia, iron deficiency, hemochromatosis, or other conditions.

The exact offer names three results from one specimen: serum iron, total iron-binding capacity, and iron saturation. The Labcorp assay may also report UIBC as a provider-specific extra, and the page states ferritin and complete blood count are not included.

Results post to the dashboard in one day with ranges explained, a clinician reviews them, and the page gives detailed pattern guidance for deficiency, inflammation, and excess iron, including which companion tests add context.

The offer publishes member and non-member prices, the per-order draw fee, state availability, the mapped labs, and preparation needs. It does not publish the assay method or analytical performance data.

The page states availability in all 50 states and Washington, DC, with Labcorp named as a provider in the state table. Collection is a lab blood draw with online booking, no doctor visit or referral is needed, and typical results arrive in one day.

The current offer lists $6.88 for non-members and $4.91 for members, plus a $15.00 lab draw fee per order, with HSA and FSA cards accepted. Order-specific refund terms are not published.

Mito publishes a privacy policy describing collection, disclosure to providers and service partners, retention of health data for up to seven years, and rights to access, export, and delete data. Test-specific specimen retention and sharing terms are not published.

Attend the selected partner laboratory for a blood draw, with serum preferred. Labcorp 001321 accepts serum or lithium-heparin plasma, not EDTA, citrate or oxalate plasma, and requires separation from cells within 45 minutes. Quest and BioReference collection instructions remain laboratory-specific. This is not a home kit. Follow the selected order instructions: morning or fasting collection may be requested. Record iron supplements, therapeutic iron and recent transfusions, and do not change treatment solely for this test. Labcorp instructs collection before therapeutic iron or transfusion and a delay of at least four days after transfusion. Coordinate timing with your clinician. For trends, keep collection time, fasting state and supplement timing comparable where practical.

The balance

The Strengths. The Tradeoffs.

Strengths

  • Online ordering includes the required laboratory order through Mito.
  • Every offered laboratory returns iron, total iron-binding capacity (TIBC) and calculated iron saturation. Labcorp 001321 additionally returns unsaturated iron-binding capacity (UIBC), the unoccupied portion of binding capacity. UIBC is Labcorp-only, not a fourth result promised for Quest 7573 or BioReference 0250-1. Ferritin and a complete blood count are separate tests and are not included.
  • Results are delivered to the Mito dashboard after laboratory processing.

Watch-outs

  • Labcorp and Quest are offered in 47 states and Washington, DC; BioReference is offered in NJ, NY and RI. Laboratory selection and price depend on your state.
  • The starting test price of $6.88 is the Quest Diagnostics nonmember option outside NJ, NY and RI, before its separate order fee. Other laboratory options have different prices and fees.
  • Quest Diagnostics test 7573, for 47 states and Washington, DC, excluding NJ, NY and RI: $6.88 without membership or $4.91 with optional $9 monthly membership, plus a separate $15.00 order fee.
  • BioReference test 0250-1, for NJ, NY and RI: $15.38 without membership or $10.98 with optional $9 monthly membership, plus a separate $9.50 order fee.
  • Labcorp test 001321, for 47 states and Washington, DC, excluding NJ, NY and RI: $17.27 without membership or $12.33 with optional $9 monthly membership, plus a separate $11.50 order fee.
  • Membership is optional. The final checkout total, cancellation and refund terms remain unverified.
  • Typical results take about 1 day; this is not a guaranteed order-to-result deadline.
  • Lower iron with higher TIBC and lower saturation can fit iron deficiency. Lower iron with low or normal TIBC and low or normal saturation can occur with inflammation or chronic disease. Higher iron and saturation can occur with iron loading, iron treatment, transfusion, hemolysis or liver disease. These patterns do not independently diagnose anemia, iron deficiency, hemochromatosis, inflammation, liver disease or organ iron loading. Interpret them with ferritin, a complete blood count, symptoms and clinical history.
  • Follow the selected order instructions: morning or fasting collection may be requested.
  • Results appear in the Mito dashboard after laboratory processing. A personalized action plan requires membership; live consultations cost extra.
  • This test is marked HSA/FSA eligible. Your plan determines individual eligibility and reimbursement.
